Welcome! I started this blog because I love to craft. I dabble with scrap booking, and card making. I love bending, folding and tweaking paper. I try other crafts, too. I hope to share some projects with you.

Fairy Book Pages

I know that I've been missing for a while but it's because I have been very busy. Mom has been in a nursing home and there has been a lot of running back and forth. My life has been busy in fact too busy, but I have managed to steal a few moments for crafting. I haven't made any new ATC's. I know that right now deadlines are something to be avoided. I did join a Fairy Page swap being hosted by Karla. I joined in mid June. I felt that somehow I could make a page a week and still be able to meet the deadline of Sept.1st. I hope that I will be able to, but I'm not sure. If not I will have some very cool fairy pages and can one day make a book of my own. I wanted to share some that I have finished.
For each of these pages I started with poster board cut to 5 1/2" x 8 1/2". All are finished on the back. I used Modge Podge to adhere scrapbook paper on the back and then made a label with my name and blog address to put on each page.

Back

This page was painted with acrylics in two shades of pink and platinum. The back of the page was covered with wrapping paper that I used Modge Podge to glue in place. The ruffle was made by accordion folding green handmade tissue paper and first gluing it around an oval frame. The fairy picture was cut into an oval. I let her wings extend beyond the oval frame. They were touched up with a silver gel pen. Then I placed it top of the ruffle. I laid a strand of tiny golden pearls around the edge. I put the same ruffle at the bottom of the page and more tiny pearls. Then was the hardest part...trying to find paper or embellishments that would match. I went through boxes looking for just the right color. Nothing was even close. So I set it aside for awhile. Then one night while sitting on the screened porch I glanced over at artificial  geraniums that I had on the porch and there were the perfect flowers for my page. I pulled three of various shades and set them with a golden rhinestone and glued them in place.

                                                                            Back

This page began with poster paper covered with scrapbook paper. I then tore another piece of scrapbook paper with musical notations and put it in place using Modge Podge. I then enlarged a fairy picture and cut her out. I used Stardust Stickles on her wings. Then I glued her down. I cut the ends off of musical note brads and glued them in place with Gem Tack glue. I cut the flowers and ferns out of vellum using my Wizard die cutting machine. I glued a rhinestone in the center of each flower and then glued them in place. I cut and sanded a chop stick to make the flute. I tied a small tag with the word on to the flute and glued it into place.

I am nearly done with the next two pages. I hope to share them with you in a few days. Then I will have only four pages to go. I sure hope that I get them done in time. Thanks for joining me again.

Take Care
Kathy
