Welcome! I started this blog because I love to craft. I dabble with scrap booking, and card making. I love bending, folding and tweaking paper. I try other crafts, too. I hope to share some projects with you.

February Tag Swap "Vintage Romance"

February is Is known as the romance month, being the month that has a day dedicated to lovers. Most of us celebrate Valentine's Day with someone or even a furry friend. It seemed perfect to have this month's theme for the tag swap "Vintage Romance".

For this tag I started by folding a piece of scrap book paper in half and then gluing it together. I trimmed the corners and then started decorating. It was supposed to be romantic and I can't think of anything more romantic than lace, ribbons and pearls. So I dragged out everything that I had and started going through it.  I found what I thought were the perfect images. I re-sized them and re-colored them. Then I printed them out. I started by laying them out on my tag and then pulling out trims and laying them onto the tag. When I found just the right pieces I started attaching them with Scor Tape. I even went so far as to pull the light pink ribbon trimmed with gold through a tan colored piece of lace. Then I went about embellishing them. I scanned a page from a magazine to get the butterflies. I re-sized them, printed them out, and then I covered each with Glossy Accents. While they were drying I found the two charms. The one with the two hearts entwined was silver, so I used Tim Holtz copper mixative to stain it. Then the word "Love" was also silver so I used Perfect Pearls on it. I sat these aside until the next day to dry. Then I attached the metal charms with Gem Tack. I then glued the butterflies in place. I finished the tag by giving it a tie made from two pieces of ribbon.

This is the second group of tags in our new swap. These are really beautiful. Like anything else we are making some changes as we work things out. Soon each artist will be signing their cards on the outside edge on the back. This is a learning experience for all of us. Other than that I can't see how any of these could be any prettier. These are a really talented group of artists. I love the larger size and how quickly everyone adjusted to it. Thanks to everyone that contributed. I love the idea that I got to see them first.

Take Care
