Welcome! I started this blog because I love to craft. I dabble with scrap booking, and card making. I love bending, folding and tweaking paper. I try other crafts, too. I hope to share some projects with you.

Sixth Grade Field Trip Scrapbook Page

I am still working on a scrapbook that will be displayed at my granddaughter's high school graduation. I am so far behind. I finished this page one day last week and thought that I would share it with all of you.

DOUBLE SIDED PAGE LAYOUT

This page took forever. I made all the rope bridges from twine and scrapbook paper. The photo mats were embossed by inking the embossing plate and then running it through my Big Shot. The LOC logo was taken from the web. The girl on the rope bridge was made by turning a photo into a pencil drawing and then coloring her using watercolors. They were both mounted onto chipboard and the outside edges were inked. The lettering plaques were cut with my cutting machine. I removed the letters and used the paper they were cut from. I then ran them through my Big Shot. I attached dark brown scrapbook paper behind them and then each was given eyelets that I ran twine though. The large "L" is a copy of a Major Award that she won. I cut the "L" out eight times stacked and glued them together. Then I painted it. I enclosed it in a clear envelope.

I hope that you enjoyed seeing this page layout. If you are interested I have a Yahoo group for scrapbookers called Scrapbook Nook. There are some really great page layouts there that were created by Kathy Scholl.
Well, I'm off to create something else.

Back To School-Halloween-People Of The Night ATC Swaps

Last fall and early last winter although I wasn't doing much blogging I was still making those additive little works of art called ATC's. I thought that I would take a few minutes to share some with you before I put them into my three ring notebook that I use to store them in. Once I put them in I won't be taking them out again for pictures.

St. Patrick's Day ATC Swap

I can't think of St. Patrick's Day without thinking of corned beef and cabbage, and soda bread. It's a family tradition. Now that I make ATC's making St. Patrick's Day ATC's is quickly becoming a tradition, too. I can't imagine not making ATC's for the occasion.

THIS IS THE ATC THAT I MADE

For this card I re-sized a picture that I found on line. I made two copies for each. I cut out the tree in the foreground. Then I cut out the hand on the tree. I then inked the edges brown. Then I ran them through my sticker maker. I trimmed around the tree again leaving the foam where the hand would be. Then I stacked them over the original picture. I added some clover stickers that I brought awhile ago.

I hope that you enjoyed seeing these ST. Patrick's Day ATC's half as much as I enjoyed receiving them. They are all so creative. I just love them.

Private ATC Swap

A few weeks ago I was having a lot of problems with mobility issues and couldn't do stairs. I got bored sitting around watching TV and I went on the group list of a Yahoo ATC group that I belonged to and asked if anyone wanted to play with me. I said there would be no theme and I called the swap "Anything Goes". I had three takers so I got busy making my cards.

THESE ARE THE ATC'S THAT I MADE

I had paper and a pencil with an eraser, and my DH had brought home from work a box of Crayola watercolors that he found on the floor in a hallway. I was set. I decided to paint whimsical animals. I didn't have any pictures to follow so I pulled these from my head. I guess these show how my mind works. LOL! Trust me even if I had had a picture to work from most likely they still would have turned out the same.

Lucie Horowitz

There were two others that joined the swap but they never sent cards. I was a bit disappointed but none the less I was thrilled with these beautiful ATC's from Lucie. She does such beautiful work it is always such a pleasure to receive one of her cards...but three at one time. I was overjoyed. Thank you Lucie!

Anything But Paper ATC Swap

A few weeks ago I was in a swap called "Anything But Paper". It was a really fun swap. I love a challenge. I wish that I could show all the ATC's from the swap. I can't because I didn't host it someone else did and she was kind enough to put all the ATC's from all the artists in a photo album to share. That is how I was able to see all the other ATC's.

THIS IS THE ATC THAT I MADE

The background is made from air dry clay. I used a rubber stamp to make the design, and after it dried I painted it gold. I antiqued it using watered down brown acrylic paint and wiping off the excess. This was the first time that I ever used Air Dry Clay. I was afraid that it might break in the mail but it made it fine. I made the lock and key by folding duck tape together and then embossing the lock and key into the duck tape. This can also be done by putting duck tape onto card stock and then embossing it that way. I elected to do the folded tape method because it would be a bit less bulky and also lighter.

This was a really fun swap. It was a lot like a scavenger hunt. I couldn't go downstairs to my studio so almost everything used to make my ATC came out of the kitchen junk drawer. My husband brought up my Big Shot from my studio and the rubber stamp and paint.
I hope that you enjoyed this update. I hope that one day soon I will get things caught up and hopefully update my blog more often.
