Welcome! I started this blog because I love to craft. I dabble with scrap booking, and card making. I love bending, folding and tweaking paper. I try other crafts, too. I hope to share some projects with you.

Washi Tape

I recently joined a swap called "Washi Tape". Sadly my ATC's were lost in the mail. I'm sorry that I never got the opportunity to see the other artist's cards. I bet they were great. Washi Tape seems to be really popular right now. I really have never used it. I thought now would be a great time to learn how. I had a roll that I brought quite awhile ago. So I joined this swap.

Right from the time that I started working on these cards I should have known that this was not to work out right. I mounted a piece of gray poke-a-dot scrapbook paper to lightweight cardboard. I then punched out a black solid card stock and a black checked scrapbook paper flower. I layered them to make the flower. Then using one of those punches that place a plastic disk over the paper that you punch I made the center of the flower and put it into place. I cut and formed the leaves from green card stock. Then I brought out my Washi Tape. Oh No! It wasn't Washi Tape. It was just a roll of pretty tape. I had planned my card around that roll of tape. Now what? I now had to make my own Washi Tape so I did. I put strips of paper first aid tape down unto my non stick work mat. Then using black ink I stamped my image onto the tape. Then when it dried I carefully lifted it from the mat and applied it to my card. I glued down the leaves and put the flower in place. I finished the card by stamping the word "hello!". Even though I hadn't planned on making my own Washi Tape it turned out fine. I'm just sorry that no one will ever receive one.

I don't know how our amazing hostess done it but from out of nowhere I received an envelope in the mail. It was my Washi Tape returns. Although she had never received mine she somehow managed to pull together enough cards that she could still send me a set of Washi Tape cards. The day that she mailed out the returns mine finally arrived...three weeks after I mailed them. She also returned mine. They arrived the day after my returns. I have an ongoing swap called "Keep It Going". I will put them into the box for that swap and send her three in return. What a strange turn of events and what a sweet hostess.

I really love the ATC's that I received in this creative swap. It would have been sad to have missed it. Thanks to our magical hostess Verna Heavner I didn't. Once again Thank You!

Take Care
